AGRI-EXPO ZONE FOR GINGER  
Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) was appointed as the nodal agency on behalf of the State Government to promote setting up of Agri Export Zone.

Objective:

Agri Export Zone (AEZ) attempts to take a look at an identified produce / product or a group of produce / products sourced from a geographically contagious area with a view to comprehensively addressing all the issues relating to each stage of the entire value chain, from farm to the ultimate consumers

Benefit:
The concept of Argi Export Zone attempts to take a comprehensive look at a particular produce/products located in a contiguous area for the purposes of developing and sourcing the raw materials, their processing/packaging, leading to final exports. Thus, the entire effort is centered around a cluster approach of identifying the potential products, the geographical region in which these are grown and adopting an end to end approach of integrating the entire process, right from the stage of production till reaches the market. The anticipated benefits to accrue as a consequences of setting up such zones are as follows:
  • Strengthening of backward linkages with a market oriented approach.
  • Product acceptability and its competitiveness abroad as well as in domestic market.
  • Value addition to basic agricultural produce.
